GATHA G.B

Gatha is powered by an irresponsible amount of tea and coffee. She can often be found curating weirdly specific food lists, quizzing people about their Goodreads account, or informing unsuspecting strangers that Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa are 'actually' Malayalam remakes.

A firm believer in radical care and love that refuses to fit into capitalism's to-do list, Gatha worked with the Centre for Social Justice for five years where her work focused on addressing systemic challenges informed by grassroots realities in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Jharkhand and strengthening access to justice systems for the marginalised communities.

She's here, at Awaaz, to deepen that work - supporting young people in their journeys and finding ways to make justice systems more open, human, and effective, one conversation at a time.

GAURI MISHRA

The human version of a ticking clock and a walking panic button! Once known for being aggressively punctual (and just plain aggressive), Gauri has now evolved into a cold coffee-loving, calm-ish soul… until something small goes wrong—then it's courtroom-level chaos all over again. A recent law graduate who helped establish her college's legal aid clinic. A Potterhead, a solo trip enthusiast, and in her free time, an ardent fan of true crime podcasts and spooky horror stories.

NIDHI SHARMA

Nidhi is not your regular Human Resource person for she herself will laugh at the stereotypes of HR managers. Based in Pune, Nidhi is one of the best untrained dancers, a fierce advocate of gender equity and an avid Binge watcher of Indian shows but equally importantly she will remember everyone’s birthday once she knows the date. She brings rich experience of 10+ years working with Cadbury (yes we also needed those chocolates), Reliance Jio, Mahindra amongst other prominent organisations. She’s here at Awaaz, to support our team member to reduce stresses of reimbursement, managing our team and ofcourse sending our paychecks every month end!

ROHIT SHARMA

Rohit was mostly famous for his meme pages, his poetry, doing theatre and legal aid in his law school, NUJS. A jack of some and masters in none ( he is yet to do his LLM), this restless person trained and taught over 10,000 students and discovered that young people need new age learning experiences and a supportive community to build innovative justice solutions. Before he zones out in almost every meeting, he will always crack a joke so he can bring his own (and team’s) attention to the meeting. A community mobiliser and artivist, he brings a rich experience of working with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, SAMA, ORF, Jansahas, his research experience at LMSAI, Harvard, University and building India Prison Portal and All for Law. At Awaaz, he works on partnerships, fund raising and sometimes flaunts his title as Founder, when people don’t take him seriously (people do, this is joke)

SANKALP SRIVASTAVA

Sankalp Srivastava is a law graduate without a box to fit in- he claims to have been a musician but after hearing him sing we are happy that he sticks to producing (musical laughter ensues). Meanwhile, his ambition for environmental laws has led him down the research path in this field before him joining as Programme Coordinator at Varta Varan.

He also has a drive for technology which has led him to develop some really cool ideas. A lover of all things indie across disciplines - he is always on the lookout for new opportunities to hone his skills as an interdisciplinarian lawyer.

AARNA AHUJA

Behind a lot of beautiful illustrations on our website, instagram or linkedin, Aarna is the silent artist. Growing up in Delhi NCR(which then had better AQI), she is a final year law student at NUJS, Kolkata and our design fellow. She can be seen putting aesthetic photos with aesthetic music on instagram while managing five events at the same time at her law school.

She’s here as a design fellow to support and heal us with her beautiful art, design and her genuine calming presence.

ALISHA FERNANDES

Alisha is that person who somehow juggles law school chaos, design deadlines, and her habit of saying “I’ll start tomorrow” like it’s a personality trait. She loves beaches, bright colours, and anything even vaguely creative. From funky layouts to random passion projects that strike at 2 AM. She romanticises sunsets like it’s her side job, and still dreams of creating something meaningful someday, through whatever platform she finds (or accidentally stumbles into).

With her mix of calm energy, curiosity, and lovable chaos, she brings a small spark of fun wherever she lands, usually with a funky notebook and a half-finished idea in hand.

DIMPLE SINGH

Simple Dimple (as she was called in one workshop) is currently building her not for Profit Community of Hope and Support( COHAS). Besides assisting Awaaz team in our Justice Innovation workshops, this powerhouse lawyer runs an art based community centre in Delhi.

She can often be found laughing with all her heart, crying emotionally and showing all the love in a single breath (and in her Justice Innovation workshop which she conducted with us) and we feel so blessed to have such a beautiful person around us.

She’s at Awaaz as Justice innovator Fellow, wherein we support young people to build law and justice initiatives.

SACHIN PANICKER

Imagine a professor with a little Munnabhai MBBS energy, who watches anime and gets every meme reference. That is Sachin for you. He loves reading, teaching, travelling, and hanging out with like-minded people. And with “rage bait” being talked about everywhere as the word of the year, you could safely call it his secret superpower and yes, he uses it. Meet Sachin, your go-to human for ideas, laughs, and conversations you did not know you were looking for.

P.S . As a resident of Goa, he can also be your much-needed guide for that long-pending trip.

TRINA TALUKDAR

Trina isn't your typical civil society leader. Beyond her tattoos, love for "doggos’, Ektara and Goa-based lifestyle, she is a powerhouse who began her journey at 18 working in Kalighat, one of Asia’s largest red-light areas. By 22, she co-founded Kranti, fueled by a passion for grassroots justice.

Her career spans global leadership, including roles as Director of Venture and Fellowship at Ashoka, and philanthropic leadership in D.C. and New York for American Express. She leads Partnerships at Kshetra, building experiential dialogue tools for everyone from grassroots leaders to policymakers.

Trina is Awaaz’s first advisor and a dedicated mentor. She creates hold active spaces for young folks to grow, supporting them while using her savage, politically-charged humor (mostly to keep their privilege in check). She remains a vital force in Awaaz’s growth and mission since we were a baby.
